The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate Kayode Fayemi has been declared winner of the 2018 election in the Southwest state of Ekiti.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared him winner this morning at the coalition center in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
“That John OluKayode Fayemi of APC having fulfilled requirements of the law and got the highest votes is the winner and is returned elected,” Prof. Idowu Olayinka, the state Residential Electoral Commissioner said.

Prof Olayinka said Fayemi garnered 197, 459 votes to beat his closest rival Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party who got 178, 121.
Eleka is the incumbent deputy governor of Ekiti.
