Nigeria’s leading confectionery outfit, Bims Savoury Gourmet, celebrated Nigeria’s Law Bar week with some of the most iconic legal cakes.
The 2021 Call to Bar ceremony held between 27 to 29 July in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.
The founder of Bims Savoury Gourmet, Bimpe Bisuga-Igwenazor said the role of the judiciary in making Nigeria a better place cannot be overemphasized but that they are rarely celebrated.
Igwenazor, who is a legal luminary said although the legal profession is highly sworn to secrecy, the people who make up the sector are also humans.
“The law profession is unique in many respects and should be celebrated by Nigerians as it is the fulcrum for our young democracy,” she said.
Commenting on how confectionery intertwines with the legal sector, she said paralegals, lawyers, judges are humans and need to relax in the best possible fashion.
“Many people believe that those in the legal profession have to be up tight all the time but like all humans, we also need to relax and enjoy the basic things of life.
On how she manages to be a lawyer and a leading confectionery, she said, “I have passion for both. I believe in our legal system and this is why I pursued this career but I also have a passion for the artistic capacity and the joy that confectionery provides.
Although she said it is difficult to manage both, she tries the best she can. “It is not easy to have two passions, both of which drive you as they can be both demanding and exhausting,” she said.
She urged young lawyers, especially those who were recently called to the bar to add their quota to the country. “Integrity, hard work and sincerity is what we need in our judiciary and I am optimistic that with the top training would-be lawyers receive at the bar our future is bright.”
