Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho is facing new charges in Benin Republic. The charges include, illegal migration, dubious connivance with immigration officers and attempt to cause civil unrest.
The latest development was confirmed by Igboho’s lawyer, Ibrahim Salami, who said they were expecting extradition charges.
Sunday Igboho was arrested at Cardinal Bernadin International Airport in Cotonou while attempting to flee with his wife to Germany after a raid on his home by the Department of state services (DSS) on July 1.
Igboho’s lawyer was confident that he would be released on Monday as the Federal government of Nigeria was yet to file a formal case against the Yoruba Nation activist.
However, uncertainty looms as Igboho has been put back in detention awaiting a hearing concerning the fresh charges.
