Nine persons have been killed by armed bandits in Sokoto state on Saturday. The premeditated attacks were carried out in Bejingo, Dantudu and Tulutu cillages in Birjin ward, Goronyo Local Government Area of the state.
According to eyewitnesses, eight men and one woman were killed in the attacks while many others were injured.
The bandits reportedly took away cattle, goats and sheep, forcing the villagers to seek refuge in neighboring communities.
The Sokoto state police command was yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filing this report.
North Western Nigeria has been under attack by bandits since the first half of the year.
It can be recalled that Chronicle NG reported the kidnapping of Niger state commissioner as well as the wife of a former councilor of Zamfara state.
Fortunately, the victims regained their freedom few days ago.
