Alhaji Magaji Makau, the district head of Ruwan Rana in Zamfara State’s Bukkuyum Local Government Area, and five others have been kidnapped by bandits.
The bandits on motorbikes were said to have invaded the village on Saturday night and started firing intermittently, prompting inhabitants to flee for safety.
The state’s police command is yet to confirm the new attack.
A resident of Bukkuyum town, told Chronicle NG that as the gunmen reached the settlement, locals ran into hiding because they knew the bandits were come to abduct them.
He said that the bandits abducted the district head of the community, Alhaji Magaji Makau, and five other notable people during the house-to-house search, and that they also rustled an undefined amount of animals belonging to community inhabitants.
“The gunmen entered the town on Saturday night and started shooting sporadically, people went into hiding because of the fear of being kidnapped,” stated a resident.
“They picked the district head and five other persons in the community; several livestock were also rustled.”
