Four people were confirmed deceased following a banditry attack in the eastern senatorial district of Sokoto State’s Giyawa village, Goronyo Local Government Area.
18 people were first kidnapped by the assailants who stole cattle and goods, according to the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ahmed Rufai.
Seven of the kidnapped victims, according to him, were eventually able to escape and make their way back to the neighbourhood where they were snatched from.
Police insisted that just eleven people are still with the perpetrators, despite other concerned community sources reporting that around thirty people were kidnapped.
The police stated that their investigators are pursuing the attackers and working to guarantee that the impacted neighbourhood and surroundings return to normalcy.
