No fewer than six people have been killed and several others abducted by bandits in Kallah Afogo Community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to locals, the bandits raided the area at 11:15 p.m. on Sunday, breaking into houses and abducting residents.

According to reports, those killed in Kallah included Garkuwa Alfarma, Buhari Maidiga, Uba Auta, Yakubu Gaku, and Atabata Naallah.

One of the locals who pursued the criminals through the jungle was slain and his body disfigured.

The bandits made another attack on Bakin Pah in Maro Ward of the same council, killing one person and kidnapping six others.

Maigari Ben, a local, urged security services to strengthen community security and ensure the safe return of the abducted individuals.

The State Police Command was yet to respond to the event. Meanwhile, two nurses and many patients were stolen from a primary health care centre in Kuyello, Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of the state.

Musa Alhassan, a local vigilante, said the criminals first attacked the adjacent Government Day Secondary School, arriving about 9 a.m. yesterday.

“When the bandits found the school empty, they turned their attention to the healthcare centre, located in close proximity. The bandits came to the school about 9 a.m., asking about the students, but when they found out the school was empty, they went to the healthcare centre and started kidnapping people.

“The bandits, who were seeking to abduct students, instead took two female nurses and several patients hostage, leaving the community in a state of panic. The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown.

“The bandits came to the healthcare centre wielding guns and machetes. They started dragging people out of the hospital, and we couldn’t do anything to stop them,” Alhassan added.

The Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman had yet to react to enquiries on the incident at the time of filing this report.
