The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has dismissed the actions filed by Abdulazeez Adediran, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, against the election of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu was proclaimed the winner of the Lagos gubernatorial race by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in March.

Sanwo-Olu received 762,134 votes, defeating Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP), who received 312,329 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate Abdulazeez Adediran placed in third place with 62,449 votes.

Unsatisfied, the LP and PDP candidates petitioned the Lagos State Election Petitions Tribunal to have Sanwo-Olu’s win overturned.

On September 25, the tribunal dismissed Adediran and Rhodes-Vivour’s claims, attempting to overturn Sanwo-Olu’s election win.

Jandor, who was dissatisfied with the finding, submitted 34 grounds of appeal against the tribunal’s decision on October 13.

The appellate court dismissed the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate’s lawsuit on Wednesday as being without merit.

The three-member panel chaired by Justice Yargata Nimpa unanimously confirmed Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat as Governor and Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

Justice Samuel Bola and Justice Paul Bassey are the other two members on the court.
