    2023: APC moves presidential primaries to May 29

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday rescheduled its presidential primary elections to May 29 and 30.

    The adjustments were made at the end of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting. Felix Morka, the national publicity secretary of APC announced the adjustments during a press briefing in Abuja.

    “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, 18th of May, 2022, approved an adjusted timetable/schedule of activities,” he said in a press statement.

    He noted that the adjustments were made to the governorship, State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, senate and presidential primaries and appeals.

    The primary election for governorship and House of Representatives will now hold on Thursday, May 26. Chronicle NG reports that it was originally slated for May 20.

    The senate and State House of Assembly will now hold on Friday, May 27.

    The special convention for the presidential primaries will hold between May 29 and 30.

    As for election appeals, he noted that the governorship and House of Representatives will hold on Friday, May 27 while that of the Senate and House of Assembly is slated for Saturday, May 28.

    On reports making that the party had zoned its presidential ticket to the North-East, Morka said: “there is no such decision made by the NWC”.

    APC screening committees would screen no fewer than 25 presidential aspirants,145 governorship aspirants, 351 senatorial aspirants and 1,197 house of representatives aspirants ahead of its primaries.

    The cleared aspirants would contest for the party’s ticket for the 2023 general elections.
