    APC has claimed victory in Bauchi and Katsina senatorial bye-elections

    The All Progressives Congress has claimed victories in the two senatorial bye elections held in Bauchi and Katsina states on Saturday.

    While the official results have not been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the APC acting publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena tweeted a ‘thank you’ to the voters in the two senatorial districts, for ‘believing in APC”.

    In Bauchi South, the APC candidate is Lawal Yahaya Gumau. From reports, he appeared to have defeated the PDP candidate, and Isa Yuguda, former governor and the candidate of GNP, with a landslide. Other candidates are: Haruna Ayuba (ADC); Aminu Tukur (APP).

    Others are Usman Hassan (KOWA); Barrister Husseini Umar (NNPP); Usman Chaledi (PDC); Ladan Salihu (PDP) and Maryam Garba Bargel (SDP).

    Gumau, the winner, was a two-time member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly and current member of the House of Representatives.

    The election was held to fill a vacancy created with the death Senator Ali Wakili of the APC on 17th March.

    In Katsina North election, Ahmad Babba Kaita of the APC, who is a member of the House of Representatives, defeated Kabir Babba Kaita of the PDP, also by landslide, according to reports yet to be verified officially by INEC.

    In one of the published results online, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Sarkin Yara polling unit in Daura, the PDP got one vote, while the APC won with 206 votes.

    In some of the results that trickled in, GPN garnered more votes than the PDP.

    The Katsina bye-election is held to fill the vacancy created by the death of Senator Mustapha Bukar.

    The APC has also claimed victory in the Lokoja/Lokoja/Kogi/Koton Karfe Federal Constituency. Representing the APC in the election to the House of Representatives is Alhaji Haruna Isah.

    The fourth bye-election took place in Obudu LGA of Cross River State. It was to fill a vacancy in the State Assembly.

    The APC has not spoken about the poll.
