Former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Akpata, has resigned from Templars, a prestigious law firm where he was a Senior Partner.
According to the firm’s statement dated August 24, 2023, the former NBA President officially informed the firm’s other partners and management of his decision to participate in active politics. In accordance with the firm’s governance protocols, it was decided that he would leave the firm effective Thursday, August 31, 2023.
The firm said this will enable him fully focus on his project of contributing towards nation building
You may recall that Akpata just joined the Labour Party in Edo State and indicated he would like to run for governor of the state in the upcoming election.
The company acknowledged Akpata‘s important contribution to the expansion of the business while announcing that its more than 100 attorneys, who work out of locations in Nigeria and Ghana and are managed by 20 other partners who specialize in various practice areas, will continue to represent the firm’s customers.
