A Max Air aircraft carrying 53 passengers with the registration number 5N-MBD suffered a tire burst in the late hours of Tuesday night at the Mallam Aminu International Airport, Kano.
A passenger told Chronicle NG that the aircraft’s tire ruptured upon landing at 22:57 pm.
The plane had earlier flown from Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport to Kano.
It was learnt, however, that all of the passengers on the flight were safely removed from the plane with no injuries.
Our correspondent discovered that the aircraft may have lost the nose landing gear tire during landing, resulting in the mishap.
As of the time of reporting this article, no airline representative could be reached for comment.
Also, attempts to speak with officials from the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau were futile. Several calls and text messages to the agency’s spokeswoman went unanswered.
Max Air assured the public that the situation was handled professionally. “Our crew handled the situation professionally, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members. There were no injuries, and the aircraft has since been removed from the runway as of 04:28,” the airline stated.
The airline applauded its engineering team for its swift response and assured passengers that updates on flight schedules would be provided as soon as possible.
