The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 38-year-old man in the state’s Karu Local Government Area, who committed himself in response to his wife’s alleged adultery.
The deceased, Gabriel Iliya Magaji, of the Masaka region in the LGA, is believed to have committed suicide on Monday due to the situation.
DSP Nansel Ramhan, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident to the press on Wednesday in Lafia.
He said, “On Monday, around 7 am, a report was lodged by a staff member of Crystal School Masaka, in our office in Masaka Division, that an unidentified man was found hanging in one of the classes in the school.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, the DPO led his men to the scene and untied the corpse and took it to the General Hospital Mararaba, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor. After that, the corpse was deposited in the mortuary.”
While mentioning that the police command had launched a thorough inquiry into the incident to determine the true cause of his death, the PPRO said that no suicide note written by the dead was found at the place where he hanged himself.
Meanwhile, a Facebook post claimed that the 38-year-old man committed suicide on Monday after discovering that his friends frequently slept with his wife in exchange for money.
