    IPOB Sit-At-Home: Gunmen chase WAEC candidates away

    A group of armed men have chased away secondary school students who were about to write their West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in Imo state.

    The gunmen, believed to be  Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB militants, invaded Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkume in Njaba Local Government Area of the state around 10am on Monday morning, shot sporaddically in the air, as students and teachers fled the scene.

    The attack comes after the proscribed group declared a sit-at-home order in solidarity with its detained leader who is in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

    It was gathered that the assailants destroyed several properties during the attack.

    The Imo state police command was yet to confirm the attack at the time of filing this report.

    It can be recalled that IPOB had ordered that the region in the Southeast must observe a sit-at-home every Monday in solidarity with its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who has been in the custody of the DSS, since he was allegedly apprehended in Kenya.

    The group also extended the sit-at-home to days when its leader was to appear in court.
