Liverpool are making significant strides in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen right-back, Jeremie Frimpong, according to renowned football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano disclosed on Tuesday via X that the Premier League side has taken concrete steps to activate the Dutch defender’s €35 million release clause.
Talks have reportedly commenced with Leverkusen to finalize the structure of the payment.
“Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong after contacts reported last week.
“Understand #LFC approached Bayer Leverkusen to discuss €35m release clause structure,” Romano stated
In addition to negotiations with Leverkusen, discussions are ongoing with the player’s representatives. Frimpong is reportedly enthusiastic about the move to Anfield.
“Talks also underway on player side with Frimpong keen on joining Liverpool,” he said.
Frimpong was instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga title win and has attracted interest from several top European clubs.
