Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, marked his 62nd birthday in a reflective manner by visiting the grave of his late father, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, at Dandolo Graveyard in Kano.
The visit, described as deeply emotional, was a tribute to his father, who played a pivotal role in shaping the governor’s values and commitment to public service.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawaki Tofa, Governor Yusuf paid glowing tributes to his father, describing him as an exemplary leader.
“My father lived an enviable life that typified service leadership, character, humility, and uncompromising commitment to the pursuit of justice. He will continue to inspire me in everything I do,” the governor said.
The late Kabiru Yusuf was a former representative of Kaduna Metropolitan in the regional parliament, known for his honesty, administrative skills, and dedication to his community.
Governor Yusuf also honored his mother, Malama Khadijatul-Naja’atu, a school teacher and respected Islamic scholar. Reflecting on her impact, he said: “My mother taught me the importance of education, faith, and compassion, values that have remained with me throughout my life.”
Accompanied by family members, aides, and close confidants, the governor offered prayers at the graveyard, asking Allah, Subhannahu Wata’alla, to grant his parents Jannatul Firdaus.
Speaking on the significance of the visit, Governor Yusuf said: “Celebrating my birthday at my father’s grave reminds me of where I come from and the values that define me. It is also a moment to renew my commitment to serving the people of Kano with the same dedication my father had for his community.”
