Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has criticized his predecessor, ex-Governor Peter Odili, accusing him of benefitting from his efforts to revive Odili’s political relevance in Rivers State.
Wike made this assertion in a trending video on X, responding to recent comments by Odili.
The former governor had alleged that the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, had stopped Wike from turning the state into his personal domain.
Reacting to the claims, Wike expressed disappointment in Odili‘s remarks. “What our former governor said is unfortunate. This is somebody who is supposed to be an elder statesman and a father. He said the president has been able to stop one politician, one man who wants to convert Rivers State to his personal estate.”
Wike also referenced Odili’s earlier praise for his administration. “You remember when I was a governor, Odili praised me to high heavens. In fact, he said no governor combined has done what I did. Why in 2007, when he left power, he couldn’t be near power because Amaechi was in power? He was gone. When I came in as governor in 2015, I brought him back to life.”
The former Rivers State governor added that he remains focused on his role as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory despite the ongoing political discourse.
