Manchester City has officially welcomed Argentine midfielder Claudio Echeverri, who will now be available for selection for the remainder of the season.

Echeverri initially signed with City in January last year but remained on loan at River Plate until last month.

The 19-year-old arrives at the Etihad after captaining Argentina at the Under-20 South American Championship, where he scored six goals in nine matches, leading his team to the final before losing to Paraguay.

During his time at River Plate, Echeverri made 48 appearances and found the net four times. He has committed to City with a contract running until June 2028.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Echeverri stated, “I cannot tell you how excited I am to be here in Manchester and to finally be able to call myself a Manchester City player.”

Currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, Manchester City shifts focus to the FA Cup this weekend, as they prepare to host Plymouth Argyle in the fifth round on Saturday.
