Celebrity chef Hilda Baci set a brand-new Guinness World Record for cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice—a first-of-its-kind attempt that pulled a massive crowd of over 20,000 food lovers, celebrities, and influencers.
Hilda pulled up her sleeves to wash the huge red pot by hand before turning on the stove. She told her supporters, “Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean!” I washed it myself.
She also emphasized that the method was meticulously planned to retain the originality of the jollof by using the correct spices. She told reporters, “To keep the authenticity of the jollof rice, I applied some mathematics, and we will still watch it while it is cooking to make sure that everything is right.”
Hilda had a brief but emotional prayer session with Bolaji Idowu, the Harvesters Church’s main pastor, just before the cooking began.
As the jollof simmered, the crowd grew, with visitors eager to try the steamy meal.
Celebrities such as Veekee James, Tomike Adeoye, and Enioluwa attended the event to cheer her on. Even Guinness World Records expressed her support, stating on Instagram, “Best of luck, Hilda and team!”
One of the ceremony’s highlights was when multiple award-winning filmmaker Funke Akindele appeared to support Hilda and excite the audience, which she accomplished with a few exhilarating dance movements she demonstrated to her followers.
Oludipe David, alias Spryo, performed some of his great songs for the audience.
This recent accomplishment solidifies Hilda’s position as a trailblazing innovator. In 2023, she established a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, lasting 93 hours and 11 minutes—an event she famously dubbed “Cookathon.” Since then, her brave spirit has sparked a surge of similar attempts.
Hilda’s list of accomplishments now includes the world’s largest jollof rice, demonstrating that her imagination knows no limitations.
