Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Friday killed eight personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached to the BUA Cement Factory located in the Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
A senior official in the state’s leadership disclosed on Saturday that one expatriate, a Chinese national, was kidnapped while four of his compatriots were rescued from their captors.
The officer stated that four people were injured and were being treated at an unidentified hospital, and that an official statement will be issued at the command headquarters in Abuja.
“Eight of our members were indeed killed by kidnappers, but a statement will be officially released later today in Abuja.
“The incident happened on Friday, August 5, 2025, at about 10 pm, when the officers were escorting five Chinese expatriates after a routine patrol at the company’s entrance,” the top official added.
Meanwhile, Agun Gbenga, the Commandant, has visited the crime scene and the hospital where the injured are receiving treatment.
It was also reported that collaborative security operations with sister agencies had begun, with officers combing the nearby woodland in search of the gunmen.
