Travis Scott’s show at Egypt’s Pyramids has been cancelled, according to promoter Live Nation Middle East, citing production concerns.
“Complex production issues meant that the show could not be constructed in the desert,” Live Nation said in a social media post.
The Egyptian musicians’ syndicate had earlier cancelled the licence for his Friday concert, which was scheduled to coincide with the release of his most recent album. The syndicate also banned the Lebanese band Mashrou Leila in 2017 when rainbow flags in support of the LGBTQ community were flown at its gigs.
In June, a Texas grand jury rejected filing criminal charges against Scott and five others in connection with a 2021 mob crush at a music event that killed ten people and wounded hundreds.
