Tension erupted in Ikire, a town in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, on Sunday after suspected thugs launched an attack on the convoy of renowned Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.
The incident, which occurred in the afternoon, involved assailants who reportedly hurled stones and fired gunshots at the vehicles in the convoy. Among the targeted vehicles were a black Hummer Jeep and a white Hilux truck, both of which sustained visible damage, according to eyewitnesses.
A video circulating on social media captured the chaos, with bystanders screaming in panic. One distressed voice was heard in Pidgin English saying, “Kasala don burst for Ikire. They don attack us. They carry gun shoot us but God dey.”
As of the time of filing this report, it remains uncertain whether any members of Pasuma’s entourage sustained injuries during the attack.
Efforts by journalists to reach Pasuma or his management team for comments proved unsuccessful.
Local residents expressed shock over the incident, which disrupted normal activities and caused widespread panic among commuters and business owners in the area.
Pasuma was said to be in Osun State for a performance, although specific details of his visit have not yet been confirmed.
