Media personality Katherine Obiang has come under severe criticism over her comments about her father’s erection.
The Cameroonian-Nigerian actress, on-air personality, and TV presenter, who initially worked as a television presenter for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on AM Express and also with Nigeria Info 99.3FM, recounted how she hugged her father in the morning and felt his erection.
revealing her experience as a clingy child, Obiang stated that she immediately left the room and schooled herself on the need to avoid that particular closure with her father.
Obiang made the remarks in the recent Jasiri show on News Central, where she offered her opinion on the issue surrounding director Kunle Afolayan’s intimate dance with his daughter, Eyiyemi.
Chronicle NG reports that the video of the father-daughter duo trended on social media, which provoked many people to label their behavior as “inappropriate” because of the way Kunle held his daughter during the dance.
Speaking on the issue, Obiang disapproved of the dance and stated: “Suppose he was dancing with his daughter like that and had an erection. What would happen? Because it’s normal, he is a man.
“When we were younger, we used to go to my dad’s room to play, but in the morning, when you want to hug your dad because you love how he smells, I felt an erection and I arranged myself, and that was the last time because I realized at that point that playtime is over. I didn’t need to be schooled about that.”
Her statement, which ignited social media with mixed reactions, has many netizens blasting her for such an “inappropriate” statement.
Reacting to Obiang’s statement, an X user, simply identified as Abby Abi, berated the actress, stating that her expose was “unnecessary.”.
She said, “This is unnecessary, uncalled for, and embarrassing. What’s going on in this world?
“Is there a new law that says if you don’t reveal embarrassing secrets about yourself, you’ll die?”
“Why bring such sensitive information to the internet? Una no dey ever dey ashamed enough to take things like this to the grave? Okay, your father is a pervert. Let’s say we believe. What do you want us to do? It’s a shame on you and your entire family, my dear,” Derek, another X user, stated.
While another Nigerian called her revealing such details about her dad “very disgusting behavior,” another berated her for using her “family to chase clout.”
As Timi of Lagos opined “She should have kept this to herself; she doesn’t need to share this information,” another noted, “Mom won’t be proud of you right now.”
Jeremiah Adetunji slammed her, saying her “mouth is loose.”
Betty Nwabunike criticized Obiang for deliberately trying to ruin her father.
Nwabunike said, “What a shameless statement unless she wants to destroy her dad’s reasons best known to her. Because how can a child, an adult child, say this?”
For Akin Zeal Precious, he argued, saying, “I don’t know what to call your dad or how you see your dad, but sometimes without thinking of anything sexual, the penis erects on its own.
“That might be your dad’s case or the opposite, but either way, if your dad has not made any advance towards you in any form, this information should not be outside.
“Imagine hugging your dad early in the morning innocently; what do you expect?”
For Ola, he slammed Obiang, saying, “Why embarrass your father? You don’t know the mood your father was in before you hugged him.”
He added that “erection is normal when he is not a dead wood, but using that rod on you is condemnable and seen as taboo.”
