MultiChoice Nigeria, the producers of the renowned music reality show Nigerian Idol, has announced the start of entries for the ninth season of the show.
The online submission of entries began on Friday, January 19, 2024, and will end at midnight on January 29.
According to the organizers, the theme for the ninth edition of the Nigerian Idol is ‘Dare to Dream’, which is intended to inspire young and talented Nigerians to take the risk of auditioning for the prestigious music competition.
Interested participants aged 16 to 28 were encouraged to record a 30-second video of themselves singing any song of their choosing and upload it to the organization’s website.
Announcing the call for entries, the Executive Head of Content and Channels West Africa, MultiChoice, Busola Tejumola, said, ”MultiChoice is committed to enabling young talents to actualize their dreams and delivering premium entertainment to our audience.
”The success of previous editions of the show has encouraged more young Nigerians to dare to dream.
”Today, they are some of the voices that carry our African stories and inspire others to live their dreams.
”Season nine promises to be bigger and more entertaining than other seasons.”
Tejumola stated that the program would be sponsored by Bigi, a soft drink company, and Tecno, a technology manufacturer.
Victory Gbakara won the last season of the Nigerian Idol, taking home a grand prize of N100 million, which included a N35 million cash award, a car, and a recording contract.
