A wide section of Nigerians have taken to social media to mock Nigerian Superstar David Adeleke, popularly called Davido, over his loss at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Davido, who was nominated in three categories: best global music album, best global music performance, and best African music performance, lost all three categories to Shakti, Bela Fleck, and Tyla, respectively.

Reacting to the “unavailable” crooner’s loss, a netizen simply identified as Valking on X noted that the Grammy Awards delayed in giving the Nigerian singer his first ever nomination, yet went ahead to deny him a win when he said, “Grammy delay Davido, still deny am.”

Reacting to his loss, another netizen said, “Grammy has humbled Davido now.”

While KingPatrick noted that “Another person talk said the first “D” for your idolo name stands for “delay” while the second “D” stands for “denial, “Manny Miles used the title of Davido’s hit to mock his monumental loss at the awards when he said “Grammy was unavailable for Davido.”

For Bako Z. Wilson, he stated that “Davido was calling the Grammy’s but them no gree pick up.” Emmanuel further berated the “unavailable” crooner when he said, “Grammy, no, make the award available for people who sing ‘Unavailable’, them too take me to heart.”

Recalling the death of the singer’s son, who died in a tragic pool accident, Udyszn, while mocking the singer over his Grammy loss, said, “Water thief hin pikin, still thief hin award.”

Davido, who was reportedly the first to arrive at the venue of the awards on the night, was dragged to derision forallegedly helping the show organisers arrange chairs at the event.

Roy Ezeorie stated, “And him come early to the venue. I hear say him even clean chair but them no still see am.” For Demon World, he said, “And na Davido first go to the venue; it’s really true that no one who calls police dey always wins cases.”

Furthermore, Plotomania wrote, “He goes to arrange chairs before he comes, and they don’t give awards.” Upon the iron and plastic chair, wey Dem arrange and clean,” Bask added.

Another netizen noted that “he dey minus. Baba cleans chairs for other artists before the event starts. No forget.”

For Terrance, he liked the singer’s voice to a frog’s when he said, “Win Grammy? with a frog voice?? You gotta be kidding me.”

While Big Misheal called Davido “the Atiku of Afrobeats,” comparing the superstar to Nigerian politician Atiku Abubakar, who has lost all three of his presidential election bids, another netizen, Bro Kaybee, said, “As a matter of fact, Davido Shud just stop attending that damn Grammy event if I were him. Even if Dem nominates me, this is pure disrespect.”

Retired Nigeria Police Force men and their families blocked a gate at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday to protest their continued inclusion in the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). The demonstrators, led by the Police Retired Officers Forum of Nigeria (PROF), branded the program as "fraudulent, illegal, inhumane, and obnoxious" and urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sign the Police Exit Bill. According to the retirees, if signed into law, the bill, which was passed by the National Assembly on December 4, 2025, and transmitted to the president on March 16, 2026, would remove police personnel from the CPS. The National Coordinator of PROF, CSP Raphael Irowainu (retd.), led the protest and stated that the goal was to get the president to act on the legislation. “Our major aim here is to prevail on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sign our bill—the bill exiting the police from the Contributory Pension Scheme—passed by the National Assembly on 4th December 2025 and transmitted to him on 16th March 2026 into law, nothing more than that,” he said. Ads by Irowainu bemoaned that while other security agencies have been removed from the scheme, police personnel remain included. “The soldiers have been exited, the SSS has been exited, the Air Force has been exited, the Navy has been exited, and the National Intelligence Agency has been exited. The police, who are the father of them all, are trapped in this obnoxious Contributory Pension Scheme,” he added. The pensioners maintained that the CPS had a negative impact on their wellbeing, calling it a "slavery and untimely death-inducing pension scheme." Monday's demonstration is not the first time retired police officers have raised the issue. In July 2025, retirees held a similar demonstration at the National Assembly, seeking their expulsion from the plan. Some demonstrators, many of whom were elderly, also protested at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, expressing their dissatisfaction with the CPS's pension arrangements. The latest protest reflects rising frustration among retired police officers with pension reforms and their exclusion from benefits provided to other security organizations.
