The United States (US) magistrate judge, Robyn Tarnofsky, has ordered American rapper Sean Combs, popularly called Diddy, to be remanded in prison, pending trial in his federal sex trafficking case.
Chronicle NG had earlier reported that the embattled rapper is currently facing federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
The judge on Tuesday had ordered that the rapper be held without bail after he pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
In a 14-page federal indictment, Diddy was charged with abusing, threatening, and trafficking women to gratify his sexual urges and maintain his name through his vast corporate empire.
According to federal prosecutors, “Diddy, with help from Combs Enterprise associates, ran an enterprise that he engaged in sex trafficking, arson, forced labour, or kidnapping, among other crimes.”
Two of the rapper’s three accusations carry a maximum penalty of life in prison.
Prosecutors had requested that he remain in detention until trial.
However, his lawyers requested that he be released on a $50 million bail and placed in home confinement with electronic monitoring.
