South African rapper and songwriter Costa Titch passed away at the Ultra South Africa music festival in Johannesburg, putting an unfortunate end to an exciting musical performance.
The 27-year-old passed out on stage while performing one of his songs. Later, when his strength returned, he stood up and finished his performance before passing away once more.
His cause of death is currently unknown.
According to reports, Costa Tsobanoglou, also known as Costa Titch, had epilepsy in the past, a condition that affects the brain and results in seizures.
Tributes have since poured in on social media, with EFF leader Julius Malema tweeting the late rapper’s name followed by broken heart emojis.
He was a rising artist from Mbombela, in Mpumalanga. His most successful single, “Big Flexa”, has received over 45 million views on YouTube, and a remix featuring US artist Akon was recently released.
