Tom Njemanze, the veteran actor, has passed away after battling prostate cancer.
Stanley Ontop, the movie producer, announced that Njemanze died on Friday via an Instagram post.
He added that all efforts to save him proved futile, describing his death as “the loss of another Nollywood legend.”
“It’s another sad period as we just received news from Tom Njemanze’s family that he has succumbed to his ailment and passed on yesterday,” he said.
“May his soul RIP. It’s well. We tried to save him, but God knows best. Nollywood lost another legend.”
The post has prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues alike.
Stanley had earlier appealed for financial support to aid the veteran actor’s urgent surgery after disclosing his condition.
Njemanze began his acting career in the 1990s and is known for his standout performances in several films, including ‘Tokunboh’, ‘Pounds and Dollars’, ‘Atosa’, ‘Issakaba’, ‘Osuofia in London’, ‘Brain Box’, and ‘Igbotic Love’.
In March, actress Nkechi Nweje died due to complications from a stomach surgery she underwent in November 2024.
She had been healing perfectly well until she started experiencing pains again and eventually passed away.
She was laid to rest in her hometown of Onitsha, Anambra state, in May.
