Saliu Badiu and Ayanmo Yakub clinched the Best Art Direction award at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for their stunning work on ‘Lisabi: The Uprising’.

The film’s art direction and set design were exceptional, bringing to life the story of the legendary Yoruba warrior Lisabi’s resistance to pre-colonial oppression.

The 11th edition of the AMVCAs began with a colourful Cultural Day on Friday, followed by the main awards night in Lagos on Saturday.

Celebrities and creatives from across the continent dazzled in traditional regalia, blending heritage with cinematic glamour.

The AMVCA, organised by MultiChoice, recognises outstanding achievements in African film, television, and digital content.

Nominations for 2024 included Lisabi: The Uprising, Skeleton Coast, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way, which won multiple categories.

Gideon Okeke (Tokunbo), Stan Nze (Suspicion), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), and Adedimeji Lateef (Lisabi: The Uprising) were among the Best Lead Actor nominees, while Chioma Chukwuka, Bimbo Ademoye, and Uche Montana competed for Best Lead Actress.
