England secured a 2-0 win over Andorra at Villa Park on Saturday, maintaining their flawless start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Thomas Tuchel’s side dominated possession but had to be patient against a compact Andorran defence. The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when Noni Madueke’s cross deflected off Christian García and into his own net.
Debutant Elliot Anderson impressed in midfield, linking up well with Madueke and Eberechi Eze, though England struggled to convert their chances. Andorra’s goalkeeper, Iker Álvarez, kept his team in the contest with several key saves, including one to deny Anderson a debut goal.
Declan Rice sealed the victory in the 67th minute, rising to meet a pinpoint cross from Reece James with a powerful header. Tuchel introduced several substitutes after the second goal, but England were unable to add to their tally.
Despite the unconvincing scoreline, the result extended England’s lead at the top of Group K and preserved their perfect qualifying record. The Three Lions have now won all eight of their meetings with Andorra, with an aggregate score of 28-0.
Andorra, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of the group, suffering their 60th defeat in World Cup qualifying history.
Next up for England is a crucial clash with Serbia, their closest rivals in the group standings.
