    The fifth EFCC prosecution witness Mrs Ifeoma Ogbonnaya, a graduate of Archeology and Tourism who is also a manager at Zenith Bank under cross by examination today by Godwin Emefiele’s lawyer Olalekan Ojo (SAN) told the court that neither Godwin Emefiele nor his wife Margret was beneficiary of the inflow of money into the accounts of three companies mention before the court.

    Mrs Ogbonna also informed the court that the bank did not, obtain the documents, board resolution or any document portraying the ex-CBN boss and his wife as beneficial owners of the accounts of the companies Limelight, Comec, and Answin Limited.
    She confirmed that none of them was named in the account opening mandate to sign banking instructions on the accounts  She responded that Madam Augustina is the signatory and not Mrs Emefiele.
    The customer instructions to honour transactions on any of the accounts did not emanate from them as the instructions were always in writing. She was asked to confirm that the instructions the banks must honour are those given by the account holders and none others.  She was given an account opening package from Limelight Limited to confirm the signatories of the company.
    She confirmed that the signatories are Stephen Ogwa and Patricia Esan while the shareholders of Limelight Limited were Omoile Augustina, Onuwa Oriekose Augustina and Ibrahim Taofeek as the document from CAC  confirmed.

    Godwin and his wife Mrs Emefiele are not shareholders neither are they directors of the companies. She reiterated  that she never attended any board or management meetings of these companies, apart from managing them.
    Having looked through the account opening package. She confirmed that no document shows the names of Margaret Emefiele and Godwin Emefiele or links them to the companies because they were not involved in any authorisation of the transactions.
    All the money paid into the accounts of the companies by the Central Bank of Nigeria was not authorized by Godwin Emefiele she confirmed this after going through the narration of the payments which has been tendered before the court.
    The presiding judge, Abdulraham Oshodi has adjourned till October 28, 2024 for continuation of trial.
