President Bola Tinubu has signed into law the Student Loan Bill in fulfilment of a promise he made during his campaign.
Relief may have come the students’ way with the provision of easy access to higher education for interest-free loans from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
The student loan bill, sponsored by the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, passed the third reading at the House two weeks ago.
Chronicle NG reports that the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. David Adejo Andrew, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary said that the Student Loan Bill that has been signed into law is an interest-free loan.
The funds will be domiciled in the Ministry of Education and will only be accessed by indigent students of tertiary institutions.
