Students of Government Secondary School, Tse-Agberagba in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, have set the school on fire over their inability to participate in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
A resident of the community who pleaded anonymity revealed that the aggrived students had registered for the examination but were unable to be validated by the (West African Examination Council) WAEC.
According to the source, the examination body had issues with the school during registration.
The students reportedly invaded the school on Sunday, set fire to the administrative block after which it spread to other parts of the school complex.
The fire damaged a lot of valuable items including certificates dating back to the 1990s.
The incident was confirmed by the council chairman of Konshisha Local Government Area, James Jirgba.
The chairman, while visiting the scene of the crime, condemned the act and called for an investigation to fish out the perpetrators.
