The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Oluwatomiwa Omolewa as the new chairman of the Park Management System (PMS) and Kasali Ajisafe Lawal as the secretary. He sacked Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, and also dissolved the PMS committee for being a threat to state control.
The State Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
Olanrewaju said Omolewa’s appointment was part of the state government’s reorganisation of the PMS, adding that the new management team comprises members from all the major factions in the transport union.
Other newly appointed management members include Deputy Chairman Tajudeen Jimoh, Treasurer Kamardeen Idowu, Financial Secretary Tirimisiyu Olowoposi, Organising Secretary Abass Amolese, and Auditor Hamidu Mustapha Were.
Omolewa’s appointment comes days after Governor Makinde sacked the PMS’s former chairman, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, and also dissolved his committee led.
Following the dissolution, the Oyo State Police Command then declared the Mukaila Lamidi wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms and ammunition.
A police spokesperson, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the arrest of 78 suspects was linked to an attempt to cause trouble in the state with the Auxiliary mentioned.
Meanwhile, during a Thanksgiving service at the Cathedral of St. Peter on Sunday, Governor Makinde told journalists that he sacked the auxiliary because a state cannot have two governments.
