The Lagos State Government has revealed intentions to close one portion of the Third Mainland Bridge on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. owing to bridge repairs.
Traffic will be shifted from one channel to another at the marked failed asphaltic portions on the Bridge, according to a statement issued on Saturday by Lagos State Commissioner of Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde.
“About the notification received for the readiness of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation to repair the identified failed/peeled asphaltic sections of the Third Mainland Bridge, the Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan for the rehabilitation process, which is between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm tomorrow, Sunday, 2nd April 2023,” said the State’s Commissioner of Transportation.
“Traffic will be diverted from one lane to another on the Bridge at the identified failed asphaltic sections.”
“This was done to alleviate tailbacks along the bridge during peak periods caused by the failed sections.”
Oladeinde promised that the State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, would be completely present on the ground to manage traffic in order to alleviate the difficulties.
The statement urged motorists to be patient because the steps being implemented are geared at offering excellent and secure road facilities for all.
