    National grid collapses twice in two days

    The national grid has suffered yet another collapse, throwing the county into another round of darkness.

    The collapse, which occured around 11:28 a.m. on Thursday, is the second this week and the 10th in 2024.

    A check with Independent System Operator, an autonomous branch of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), revealed that all power plants connected to the system were not producing any electricity at 12 p.m.

    The ISO’s website revealed that the power plants produced an average of 2,323 megawatts of electricity around 11 a.m., but 0.00 MW at 12 p.m.

    As of the time of filling out this report, TCN had yet to explain the cause of the collapse.

    Jos Disco confirmed the development, stating that the present outage within its franchise is due to a loss of power supplies from the national grid.

    “The loss of power supply from the national grid occurred this morning at about 11:28 hours of today, Thursday, 7th November 2024, hence the loss of power supply on all our feeders.”

    “We hope to restore normal power supply to our esteemed customers as soon as the grid supply is restored back to normalcy.”
