Subscribers of mobile telecommunication giants, MTN and Airtel have expressed dissatisfaction over poor internet service provided by the networks.

Checks by Chronicle NG revealed that most internet users on the network of the telecommunication companies were unable to access the internet, as most could not use their favourite social media platforms, bank mobile applications and other websites.

MTN in a statement on Thursday, the said the ongoing disconnection was due to breaks in multiple major undersea cables.

“Recognising the critical importance of consistent internet and communication services, we are fully committed to swiftly addressing these disruptions.“

To mitigate the impact on our customers in the affected countries, our operations are actively working to reroute traffic through alternative network paths and engaging with our consortium partners to expedite the repair process for the damaged cables.

“Leveraging our robust and resilient network infrastructure, we aim to minimise service interruptions and maintain connectivity.

“We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve this situation.”  the statement reads.

Reacting to the unfortunate occurrence, MTN and Airtel subscribers in Nigeria have continued to lament the effect of the disruption on their daily activities.

“No way you can tell me this country isn’t out to destroy one’s sanity. Bad MTN network, Bad Airtel network/ISPs, useless banks.” Sir David Onyemaizu (@SirDavidBent) posted.

Decrying the difficulty he has been facing accessing his handle, X user, Temmy said, “So MTN is the cause of this nonsense, and I was updating Twitter thinking Twitter was the issue.”

“The problem isn’t MTN Network. The upstream internet provider into Nigeria is down and that’s why we are experiencing major issues across all service providers.” Another X user, Big N’gin (@Brown0x) said.

Tweeting in frustration, ELLA (@oluwaseyinuella) said, “I am tired of the MTN network.”

“MTN network getting someone frustrated!!! I can’t even do anything. People are losing money because of this. Nah, this is so bad.” Joshteefied (@penmystories) said.

“Airtel, by the grace of God, all of you will leave your office and run away….”Emperor IK @(Officialikenna) tweeted.

“Airtel seized my phone since morning!” Khalil Hamzat (@khalil01) tweeted.
