Some residents in Abuja on Monday attacked and looted a truck transporting food items in Dei-Dei.
Chronicle reports that this comes barely 24 hours after some residents of the FCT raided and plundered a warehouse belonging to the Federal Capital Territory’s Department of Agriculture.
A resident disclosed that the truck was coming from the Zuba area via Madalla Road and was attacked at the Dei-Dei junction.
The source said, “The truck was coming from Zuba-Madalla Road but was attacked at the front of the NNPC filling station in Dei-Dei on Monday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
“Most of the culprits who attacked the truck were actually artisans who regularly offload goods from such trucks.
“I think the truck was coming from the northern part of the country. The goods inside were to be taken to the warehouse that was attacked on Sunday.
“But because of the attack on the warehouse, the truck was parked along Madalla Road until Monday morning, when the driver received a signal that everything was under control, then it proceeded to the warehouse. But the truck was attacked before it got there.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said the command was not aware of any looting of a food truck.
She said, “The FCT Police Command is not aware of any looting of food trucks in Dei-Dei, Abuja, this morning being 5/3/2024, but if you have any information, please come to us with details.”
