The Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) cash policy was put into effect, and on Sunday the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) called it a disaster.

Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, president of CBCN, regretted that the policy, which had resulted in a cash constraint, had exacerbated the situation, wrath, and irritation of the general populace.

Ugorji gave a speech at the First Plenary Assembly of the CBCN in 2023, which was held at the Catholic Secretariat in Abuja.

While expressing sadness over the situation, he said it seemed the Federal Government was overwhelmed with the crisis and the insecurity in the country.

He urged Nigerians to vote wisely in the forthcoming general elections.
