Several communities in Calabar, the Cross River capital, are currently without power due to a windstorm that destroyed many electricity poles.
The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company issued a statement on Sunday informing its Calabar customers that the interruption was caused by the windstorm.
“We wish to inform our esteemed customers in Calabar that the outage currently experienced is a result of a heavy wind storm that damaged many poles in our network,“ the Disco said.
Some affected areas include the University of Calabar, Federal Housing Estate, Transcorp, EPZ Complex, and others.
The PHED told its clients that the situation is being addressed urgently and that its technical team is now working tirelessly to restore power.
