A Nigerian baker has suffered losses after a dispatch rider she hired to deliver a customer’s birthday cake and cupcakes gave out the package to a stranger who ate it all.
In a statement on X on Thursday, the baker, simply identified as Pere, lamented that the cake did not get to the celebrant in Amassoma, Bayelsa State, because the delivery man gave the cake to “a random stranger.”
Pere said, “This package didn’t get to the celebrant. The rider that I paid to do delivery to Amassoma decided that it would be a waste of his time to go to Amassoma, so he carried this lovely cake and gave it to a random stranger at Tombia who was going to Amassoma, and the person ate the cake.”
However, in a statement on Friday, the baker, who mentioned that her “blood pressure” went high over her inability to deliver the cake to the celebrant, revealed that the dispatch company paid in full for the loss.
Pere also disclosed that she was able to send a gift box to the celebrant.
“The dispatch company refunded in full, and we were able to curate this beautiful gift box yesterday, and she received it this morning with so much gratitude and appreciation,” the baker stated.
