Blood donors have been granted the opportunity to see the Copa do Brasil final at the Maracana for free after the Rio de Janeiro State Sports Superintendence, which operates the stadium, announced that 100 tickets will be given out.
The programme, organized in collaboration with the Rio State Health Department, provides free admission to the first leg of the final between Flamengo and Sao Paulo.
The tickets will be given to the first 100 fans who donate blood at the Hemorio (Instituto Estadual de Hematologia Arthur de Siqueira Cavalcanti) on matchday.
“Our Hemorio owes a lot to the initiatives that combine the passion for football, the passion for Flamengo, with the passion for saving lives,” said the state’s health secretary, Luiz Antonio, also known as Dr. Luizinho, in a video message posted on social media.
The game celebrates the reopening of the Maracana, which had to close last month for pitch repairs due to severe rain.
