Former US President Joe Biden recently had skin cancer surgery, according to his spokesman.
He underwent Mohs surgery, she told the BBC’s US partner CBS News, although she did not immediately disclose any information.
The technique involves cutting away skin until no trace of malignancy remains.
The 82-year-old was recently seen with a wound on the right side of his head.
In 2023, the former US president had a malignant skin lesion removed from his chest during a normal health check.
In May, he was diagnosed with an aggressive kind of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones.
“Cancer touches us all,” Biden wrote on social media at the time. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places.”
Biden had multiple non-melanoma skin tumors removed before becoming president.
He has mainly avoided the public eye since leaving the White House in January, making only a few public appearances.
The Bidens have long been vocal in their support of cancer research and treatment. Beau, their adult son, died in 2015 of brain cancer.
