Bhoomi Chauhan, a woman who was supposed to board the Air India flight that tragically crashed in Ahmedabad has spoken about her narrow miss, claiming she missed the plane by only 10 minutes.
According to a Mail Online news article on Friday, Bhoomi Chauhan was on her way to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat to board aircraft AI-171 to London when heavy traffic created a significant delay, preventing her from boarding.
Her late arrival saved her from a catastrophic crash that claimed 241 lives and left only one survivor.
However, due to heavy traffic, she arrived at the airport 10 minutes late and ultimately missed her flight.
Chauhan, an Ahmedabad resident, told local media that when she learnt of the fatal disaster seconds after being turned away from the boarding gates, she trembled violently and her knees began to shake.
The Gatwick-bound jet, carrying 242 passengers, including 53 British nationals, crashed shortly after takeoff.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed in the highly populated Meghani neighbourhood of the city barely minutes after taking off from the runway at 1.40pm local time (8.10am BST).
Terrifying CCTV footage shows the plane appearing to lose control before swiftly descending with a steep nose angle and deployed landing gear.
Chauhan claimed her ‘mind went numb’ when she learnt about the incident before returning home.
She had gone to India on vacation while her husband remained at home in London.
