The Anambra State Police Command has announced that it has averted a planned attack on the Divisional Headquarters in Nneni, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state. In the early hours of Thursday, some unidentified criminals broke into the police station and threw explosive devices, causing part of the structure to fire. Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has suffered severe criticism over the subsidy of Hajj fares for intending pilgrims from the state.  Yusuf paid N500,000 for each Kano intending pilgrim who will perform this year’s Hajj under the umbrella of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board. Tigran Gambaryan, a detained Binance executive, has accused National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission of abusing his fundamental human rights. Gambaryan filed an originating motion marked FHC/ABJ/CS/356/24 seeking a determination that his imprisonment and seizure of his foreign travel passport violated Sections 35 (1) and (4) of the 1999 Constitution. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disowned the Labour Party’s (LP) National Convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, which saw Julius Abure re-elected as the party’s national chairman.  Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, confirmed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday. Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a fake Inspector who engages in armed robbery and car snatching, among other crimes.  This was disclosed by the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Olatunji Dosu while parading the suspect among other suspected criminals on Wednesday. According to the Dosu, Monday Igbali, the fake inspector, was a former sergeant who was dismissed after being charged in a kidnapping case in 2021. The Rivers State Police Command has reported the arrest of 26 suspected car hijackers, including five ex-convicts, after dismantling a network that stole cars and sold them to eager purchasers outside the state. According to the police, the arrest followed many instances of stolen cars, some of which were grabbed from victims at gunpoint in and around Port Harcourt. The Nigeria Defence Headquarters has declared eight people wanted in connection with the gruesome murder of 17 soldiers in the Okuama community of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. Ahmed Ningi, the senator representing Bauchi Central in the Senate, has written to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, seeking that his suspension be lifted. Ningi, who contacted Akpabio through his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), stated that if his suspension was not restored within the next seven days, he would take the Senate to the Federal High Court.
