Reps demand suspension of ATM transaction fees hike

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over its recent decision to increase Automated Teller Machine (ATM) transaction fees. SERAP argues that the fee hike is “unlawful, unfair, unreasonable, and unjust” and seeks a court order to stop its implementation. The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos under case number FHC/L/CS/344/2025, challenges the CBN’s directive, which imposes a N100 charge per N20,000 withdrawn from ATMs located outside bank branches, with additional surcharges of up to N500 for withdrawals at shopping centres, airports, and standalone cash points.…

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dragged one Mr Adeolu Olayinka, a staff member of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, to court for secretly including his wife and son on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) portal of the ministry between 2023 and 2024. Gunmen invaded Elyon Paradise Ministry church, Asagba Ogwashi, near Ogwashi Uku Polytechnic in Aniocha South local government area on Saturday. The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) said it has halted crude feeds into its 16-inch Nun River-Kolo creek crude trunkline in Bayelsa, following an oil spill.
