The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the alleged money laundering case against former governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, after testimonies from two witnesses. Fraud allegations amounting to N80.2 billion were instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Bello. When the matter was called on Thursday, Counsel for the EFCC, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, called its witness on the subpoena, Williams Abimbola. The senate has suspended Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, lawmaker representing Kogi central, for six months. The decision followed the adoption of the report by the committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions, The committee, headed by Neda Imaseun, presented the panel’s report during plenary on Thursday. A federal high court in Lagos has ordered the permanent forfeiture of $1.4 million allegedly linked to Godwin Emefiele, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). In a ruling delivered on Thursday by Ayokunle Faji held, the court held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully established that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities and must be forfeited to the federal government. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said its operatives have uncovered rifles, live cartridges, and other weapons hidden by fake drugs dealers at the Ogbo Ogwu Bridge Head Market in Onitsha, Anambra. While addressing journalists on Wednesday, Martins Iluyomade, NAFDAC’s south-east zonal director, said NAFDAC has been carrying out a crackdown on the drug sections of the market since February 10 as part of an ongoing nationwide campaign to strengthen public health.
