Substitute Diogo Jota scored for the third straight game as Liverpool came from behind to beat in-form West Ham and go top of the Premier League table. In an intriguing encounter, the Hammers took an early lead through Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals’ smart finish, which clipped the post on its way in after a poor headed clearance by Joe Gomez. That was the 15th goal Liverpool have conceded in seven games this season – as many as Chelsea let in all season on their way to the title in 2004-05. Jurgen Klopp’s side were level shortly before half-time, Arthur Masuaku’s…
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo placed a phone call to a Twitter user, Taye Paul Olubayo, who addressed a four-page open letter to the number two citizen on October 6. Unlike many Twitter users who do not meaningfully engage the government, Mr Olubayo tweeted a handwritten letter to the Vice President proffering solutions to how to solve the demands of EndSARS protesters. In the letter, Mr Olubayo detailed how many youths worked actively to elect the Muhammadu Buhari administration in 2015 and again in 2019. The letter he addressed to the VP reads in part, “Over the past few days, and…
Joe Biden’s presidential campaign canceled a Friday event in Austin, Texas, after harassment from a pro-Trump contingent. Texas has emerged as a battleground state in Tuesday’s presidential election, with polls showing the typically Republican stronghold now only marginally favoring President Donald Trump. The Biden campaign scheduled a Friday event in the state, in a bid to drum up last-minute support. But when the Biden campaign bus drove to Austin, it was greeted by a blockade of pro-Trump demonstrators, leading to what one Texas House representative described as an escalation “well beyond safe limits.” The cancelation comes amid national anxiety about…
Hakim Ziyech scored his first Premier League goal as Chelsea cruised to a 3-0 victory over winless Burnley at Turf Moor. Making his first league start for the Blues, Ziyech wrong-footed Burnley keeper Nick Pope, expertly dispatching Tammy Abraham’s lay-off in the 26th minute. Defender Kurt Zouma doubled the advantage just after the hour mark, rising highest to head home a Mason Mount corner. And summer arrival Ziyech then turned provider seven minutes later, sliding through Timo Werner who side-footed an effort beyond the onrushing Pope. Chelsea rise to fourth while Burnley remain 18th in the table, with Ashley Barnes…
US and Nigeria forces have rescued an American citizen who had been kidnapped by armed men in an operation on Saturday in northern Nigeria that is believed to have killed several of his captors, US officials said. Forces including Navy SEALs rescued Philip Walton, 27, who had been abducted on Tuesday from his home in neighboring southern Niger, two US officials said on condition of anonymity, adding that no US troops were hurt. A diplomat source in Niger said Walton is now at the US ambassador’s residence in Niamey. Sources said, “The operation involved the govts of the US, Niger…
Eden Hazard scored his first goal for more than a year as Real Madrid moved to the top of La Liga with an emphatic 4-1 win over Huesca. The Belgian opened the scoring with a superb left-foot shot into the left corner from outside the penalty area. France forward Karim Benzema scored twice for the hosts, with Uruguay midfielder Federico Valverde getting their other goal. David Ferreiro scored the visitors’ only goal. Real, who had lost their previous two home fixtures, made a slow start and were fortunate not to fall behind against a Huesca side without a league win…
Kyle Walker marked his 100th Premier League appearance for Manchester City with a goal against his former club as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Sheffield United. The right-back, who came through the ranks at the Blades, struck midway through the first half with a superb long-range strike. It was a deserved goal for a Manchester City side who dominated the first half, and they could have added another but for an excellent save by Aaron Ramsdale from Ferran Torres’ header. Ramsdale did well again in the second half when he dived at full stretch to keep out a Riyad Mahrez free-kick.…

According to him, Canada needs more workers “and immigration is the way to get…
British prime minister, Boris Johnson, is considering a month-long lockdown across England in the hope that measures could be eased before Christmas. A new “stay at home” order could be announced on Monday, with schools, colleges and universities exempt. Documents seen by the BBC suggest the UK is on course for a much higher death toll than during the first wave unless further restrictions are introduced. Deaths could reach more than 4,000 a day, one of the models suggests. This figure is based on no policies being brought in to slow the spread of the disease, but most of the…
