The World Health Organisation (WHO) says global suicide rates have decreased over the past few years but one person still takes his or her life every 40 seconds somewhere around the world. The British Airline Pilots’ Association (Balpa) on Monday commenced a 48-hour strike in a dispute overpay. Balpa said almost all British Airways flights, totalling hundreds, were cancelled and an estimated 195,000 customers would be affected. The association said 8.50 a.m. scheduled flights were cancelled, and passengers would be offered a refund or a later flight. The strike has been labelled one of the biggest in the airline’s history. A government statement, on Monday announced that the late former president of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe will be buried on Sept. 15. Mugabe, 95, died on Sept. 6 in Singapore where he had been receiving medical treatment since April. He ruled Zimbabwe for nearly four decades until November 2017 when he resigned. The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal will deliver judgment in the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar challenging President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the February 23 general election.
