Prof. Gideon Okedayo of Ondo State University of Science and Technology

The kidnapped lecturer of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa, Prof. Gideon Okedayo, has been found dead. Okedayo, of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and acting Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies in the university, was kidnapped on Sept. 5 on his way to his hometown in Igara, Edo State. Okedayo’s decomposing body was found on September 9 in the bush, where his abductors held him. Two suspects, including an army deserter, were on Tuesday arrested by the police in Adamawa for robbing a woman of her car at gunpoint. The Adamawa Police Command spokesman, DSP Suleiman Yahaya, confirmed the development to newsmen in Yola. The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday fixed Sept.11 to deliver judgment in the petition filed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar challenging president Muhammadu Buhari’s victory in the February 23 general election. Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate is seeking to nullify the election of Buhari in the February 23 polls.
